What is AnimatedBB
AnimatedBB turns Blockbench models (.bbmodel) into animated NPCs for Paper 26.2 and 26.3, drawn out of display entities.
No resource pack. No ModelEngine. Drop a Blockbench model in a folder and the plugin turns it into an NPC that animates, can be clicked, and runs whatever you tell it to.
What it can do
- Model NPCs from your
.bbmodelfiles, with the animations you made in Blockbench: an idle animation that loops, and one when clicked. - Normal NPCs: classic player NPCs with any skin, from a player name or an image URL.
- Interactions when clicked: messages, sounds, commands, waits, permission and item checks, sending players to another server.
- Holograms over NPCs (with FancyHolograms).
- Placeholders: PlaceholderAPI in interactions, and AnimatedBB's own placeholders.
- Bedrock players (Geyser) get a stand-in they can see and click.
- An in-game editor for everything.
How a model becomes an NPC
A model is made of boxes. AnimatedBB draws each box with display entities, in one of two ways (models.render-mode):
heads(default): each box is one textured player head. A model costs tens of entities instead of hundreds. The textures are uploaded once to MineSkin (see Models).quads: each patch of colour is a small coloured panel. No upload and no resolution limit, but a detailed model costs hundreds of entities.
| Model | heads | quads only |
|---|---|---|
| Player rig | 11 entities | 72 |
| Alex (with hat layers) | 15 | 996 |
| Wumpus | 73 | 868 |
