Bedrock players
A Bedrock player (through Geyser) cannot see a model NPC. Models are drawn with display entities, which exist only in Java Edition; Bedrock has nothing equivalent to translate them to. This is how the two games are built, not a bug.
The stand-in
So Bedrock players are not left with nothing, each of them is sent a plain player NPC standing where the model is, seen only by them. Geyser translates it, and Java players never see it.
- It marks the spot.
- It makes the NPC clickable for them: without it they could not interact at all, because the box a model is clicked through is Java-only too.
- Its look comes from
/abb setskin <id> <player|url>. On a model NPC, that skin dresses only the stand-in.
It is a marker, not the model. Turn it off with:
