FAQ and problems

I created a hologram and nobody sees it

  • The world. location.world must be a world that is loaded. Check the console after /hbb reload: a hologram that cannot load says why.
  • The distance. Players see it within its view distance (48 blocks by default).
  • Who sees it. A visibility.permission, visibility.condition or "hidden until shown" may be hiding it. See Permissions.
  • Hidden until a player comes close. If it is set, it only shows when someone comes close.

Placeholders show as %something%

  • Install PlaceholderAPI.
  • Download the placeholder's expansion: /papi ecloud download <name> and /papi reload.
  • Try it in chat with /papi parse me %the_placeholder%. If it does not work there, it will not work in a hologram.
  • In the web editor they always show as written; they are filled in in game.

Clicking does nothing

Clicks only count when something reacts to them: add something to Click 1 in Animate mode. If the box that takes clicks is too small or too big, set it in Menu → Hologram settings → Click box.

The web editor says the code does not exist

Codes are kept for a limited time. Run /hbb web <id> again, or Save again in the editor for a new /hbb apply code.

/hbb apply asks me to confirm

Your changes add commands players would set off (a chat message, a sound, a command). The server lists them so you can check them, and applies them with /hbb apply <code> confirm.

I changed a file by hand and nothing happened

Run /hbb reload. If it does not load, the console says which file and which key.

Can Bedrock players (Geyser) see the holograms?

No. Holograms are drawn with display entities, which exist only in Java Edition; Bedrock has no equivalent to translate them to.

Does it lag the server?

Holograms are packets, never real entities. The server only sends what changed, and a stretch of animation that moves in a straight line goes out as one packet that the player's game finishes on its own. Text with placeholders refreshes every update-interval; set it to 0 on holograms whose text never changes.
